Vaught Connections is starting out with John Paul Vogt (also known as Johan Paulus Vogt-Voght-Faught-Fought-Faut-Belfaut) (ca 1680-1761). All of these different spellings have been found in reference to him. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany, married Maria Catherine (surname unknown) (1682-1760) (also known as Catherina Margret) some time between 1704 and 1714. Their children were Catherina Margret, Mary Catherine, John Andrew and John Casper. John Paul Vogt , his wife Maria (Mary) age 46; two daughters Catherina, age 18; Maria, age 16; two sons, Andrew age 12; and Casper, age 8 arrived in Philadelphia on October 11, 1733 on the ship called The Charming Betty. The family arrived in this country from the Palatinate area of Germany. John Paul lived most of his life in Virginia.
