      PIERSOL, JOSEPH M.-- To Samuel R. and Eliza Piersol was born a son, Joseph Morrison, in Mahoning county. Ohio, July 18, 1843. At the age of twelve, together with his parents, he came to Rock Island county, Illinois.
      On February 20, 1866, he was united in marriage to Sarah F. Wilson, to which union were born five children, all of whom were in attendance at the demise and funeral. In the spring of 1869 he, with his wife and children, moved to Lucas county, Iowa, where they resided until the spring of 1873, when they came to Nebraska and settled in Chelsea precinct. Coming to Geneva in 1906, they built a house in which they have since resided.
      In October 1907, the deceased had a slight stroke of paralysis, but was able to be about until December 10, 1909. He has been confined to the house since Christmas of 1909, being tenderly cared for by his affectionate wife. On Sunday morning, Easter day, at 7:45, the silver cord was broken and he was set free. For many years Brother Piersol has been a member of the United Brethren church near Strang. In the war of the rebellion he enlisted in Company C. One Hundred and Second Illinois Volunteer infantry, being discharged honorably June 6, 1865.
      Surviving him are his widow, and these children: Mrs. Minerva. Wright of Parsons, Kas.; Lewis W. Piersol and Mrs. Lucy Miller of this county; Mrs. Esther Lyons of Lincoln and Mrs. Mae Houchin of Keystone, Neb. Services were held in the Methodist Episcopal church, conducted by Rev. C. L. Myers and by Wilson Post G. A. R., Interment being in the Geneva cemetery. (Died 01 APR 1911)
