    • William served in the War of 1812, 39th Infantry under Capt. John B. Long (Discharge Certificates appendix III; List of Soldiers by Name. He also served under Lieut. Ezekial Arrowsmith in 1812 and later under Capt Jacob Shingledecker. In 1814, William served under Capt. Thomas Shannon.
      In 1815, he had a Land grant from the Zanesville Land Office in Ohio. They lived in Green Co., OH 1816-1828. Later in 1828-1853 they were living in Montgomery Co., Indiana. William was the constable in Union, Montgomery, Indiana in 1850. By 1852 they were living in Rock Island Co., Illinois.
      The book "Ten Mile Country" talks about William Wilson, and the book on Rock Island Co, IL also mentions him.
      His grandfather John Wilson (1739-1823) was a Patriot of the Revolutionary War. After the War, he took his family to KY where he helped to write that state's constitution. They later were among the first settlers in OH and again, John Wilson help to write the state constitution for OH.
      William married Rachel Mills on 8 Mar 1810 in Greene Co., OH. They had 12 children: Lewis E. (1811), Jacob Mills (1813; Mary (1814); Susan (1815); Lydia Lovia (1818); Hannah (1820); Adam Lynn (1826); Owen Dale (1831), Moses (1833); John Q. (1838); George (1843); & Miles who died in infancy.
